Practice, practice and more practice

The first thing you need to become an Olympic trampolinist is physical ability. Start by learning the basics with simpler techniques, then learn to execute each move flawlessly, training your body to gain stamina and balance.

Build a varied workout routine

Working out on a trampoline is good, but you’ll need to do more than that if you want to go for the gold. This means expanding your workout routine into other forms of exercise. Incorporate cardio and weight training with a primary (though not limited) focus on your calves, thighs and core.

Start eating like a champion

To build and maintain an athletic body, you must develop a healthy menu, and stick to it every day. It’s essential your intake includes protein and nutrients required to maintain high energy levels, repair and grow muscle, and keep the body functioning as you exercise.

Find a trampoline trainer

Start by searching for a gym that accommodates to, or specialises in, trampoline activity. The facility may be able to help you find a professional trainer. Once you have a trainer on your side, you can begin working toward your first competitions.

Become a competitive trampoline athlete

You must work your way up if you want to prove yourself worthy of competing in the Olympics. Begin by participating in small, local trampoline events, then work your way up to larger tournaments. Not only will this refine your skills, but gain the attention of professionals in the industry who may be able to help you move up the ranks toward the Olympics.

How do the pros do it?

Trampolining is not only a fun recreational activity, but it is also a competitive sport that is showcased in the Olympics.

Olympics

Athletes around the world train intensively for trampolining competitions, which are highly competitive and very entertaining to watch. Trampoline routines must include specific skills, which are very difficult and require years of practice to master:

Barani: This is a front somersault with a half twist. It is also sometimes referred to as a front-half. It can be done in a piked (legs straight with arms reaching towards them), tucked (legs to chest), or straight position.

Cody: This trick can be done forwards or backwards. In a back Cody, the athlete starts in a front drop position, where they are horizontal on the trampoline, pushing with their arms and feet, and then execute a 1 ¼ somersault that lands on the feet. In a front Cody, the athlete also starts in a front drop position, but instead does a ¾ somersault in a forward direction, landing on the feet.

Quadriffus: This is defined as a quadruple somersault in any position that has at least half of a twist. Athletes can add more twisting for additional difficulty. Double and triple versions of this move, which are less difficult, are referred to as a ‘fliffus’ or ‘triffus’.

Miller Plus Plus: This is a highly advanced skill that is based off of the original Miller, which is a double back somersault with a single twist in the first somersault and a double twist in the second. However, in the Miller Plus Plus, the athlete completes a total of five twists over the course of the two somersaults in the air.

Look out for these tricks at the Olympics – you will definitely be impressed.

We understand some parents worry about the safety of a backyards trampoline. So we thought we would list our top 3 tips for trampoline safety. Trampolines are fun and certainly safe should your kids follow Some simple saftey rules and tips.

The following are some simple tips to help your kids bouncing injury free:

Tip 1 – 1 person at a time

Having only one bouncer at a time means no collisions and no risk of double bouncing. Be sure to remind your kids of this fact if you ever see two or more bodies bouncing.

Tip 2 – Bounce in the middle

Bouncing in the very centre of your trampoline is the safest place. It’s also the most bouncy!

Tip 3 – Take care of your trampoline

Take care of your trampoline and replace any parts if they are looking a bit sad. This is very important and often overlooked, but make sure you are ontop of it! Now is the perfect time to order a new mat, or replace those pads as it isn’t long now until the Christmas break holidays.

Did you know that over 90 per cent of trampolines sold in Australia are imported from overseas?

Quality

Imported trampolines can be of lesser quality then Aussie-Made and as a result have a shorter lifetime.

Ask yourself and your family these questions,

  • Are you after a quality trampoline?
  • Do you want a trampoline to last your kids for summer holidays after summer holidays, year after year?
  • Are you wanting a higher more controlled bounce?
  • Do you want to avoid having to replace your trampoline parts as often?
  • Are you buying for little ones or big ones? (Our Kids Trampolines is only for kids under 45kg)

If you have any questions at all about what trampoline is right for you please feel free to contact our team today.
