Spring Pads

One of the extras we have in our Replacement Parts section are spring pads.

So, what are spring pads and why should you use them?

Spring pads are, quite literally, pads that cover the springs of a trampoline!P J Fxd. - Carpet Pads fitting 022

They’re a safety feature – there are lots of little gaps between the springs all the way around the trampoline mat and if your leg slips down one of these holes, there is the potential to do some damage.

But it course, it depends on how good you are on a trampoline!  We definitely recommend spring pads if your trampoline will be used by little kids, as they’re more likely to misjudge their bounce and hit the springs.  round-spring-pads-green

If your trampoline is mainly used by older kids or adults, you can decide how likely you are to need the extra padding!

Spring pads come in a range of shapes and sizes to suit most trampolines.

Happy bouncing!

Regular Trampoline Maintenance

We’re often asked about the maintenance necessary to properly look after a trampoline.

The upkeep of your trampoline is actually quite easy!

Every now and then, remove the legs (also known as spreader bars) and check for signs of rust. If it’s all OK, spray with a rust inhibitor and put the legs back on.

If the mat surface becomes dirty, you can clean it with cold water only.  Don’t use detergents, soaps or any other products to clean the mat as it will decrease the durability and life-span of the mat.

Keep an eye on your trampoline – check for signs of wear and tear or damage. If springs or the mat need replacing, do it sooner rather than later to keep it as safe as possible.

And finally, if your Topline Trampoline won’t be used for a long period, it’s best stored out of the weather.

So that’s it!  These are all very small, easy things that won’t take too long – but if you keep up with them you can greatly improve the lifespan of your trampoline.

Handy Hints!

It’s really important to look after your Topline Trampoline – it helps prolong their life, so you can be bouncing for as long as possible.

video-olympic-demoOne way to do this is to make sure you’re not exceeding the weight limit for your trampoline.

Weight limits can seem like a kill-joy at times, but they’re there because the trampoline can only tolerate a certain amount of weight.

There are a few signs that you may be bouncing a little heavy:

  • the frame is bowing too far inward and doesn’t return to its normal shape
  • springs are becoming overstretched – you may be replacing them often.

So stick to the weight limit – your trampoline will thank you for it!

Cheers,

Kat

Spring Pads

Not all trampolines come with spring or frame pads, but we think they’re a great idea.round-spring-pads-blue-300x300

There are a couple of major benefits:

  • help prevent injury if someone lands on the springs after a poorly aimed bounce – it’s much nicer to land on pads!
  • serve as a visual boundary for those bouncing – spring/frame pads are usually a bright, contrasting colour that stands out against both the black mat and the colour of the surrounding ground.  This helps bouncers stay on the trampoline!

Here at Topline Trampolines, we stock a range of spring pads – from heavy duty to light duty, so you can choose the padding that suits your needs.  (They also come in “round” or “rectangular” – be sure to order according to the shape of your trampoline!)

The lifespan of these pads varies greatly depending on useage and climate, but you can generally expect them to last between one and three years.

Kat

Professional Yellow Trampoline Mats

yellow-mat-300x300We don’t just stock trampolines for the backyard – we also make high quality trampolines for the competitive trampoliner.

Our yellow 2-string mats are super bouncy – they have less resistance when moving through the air.

However, maintenance of these trampolines is slightly more involved.

  • Repaint at least every 12 months with water-based acrylic or every few years if your mat is rubber based paint
  • Paint the mat on the trampoline using a roller and go around the edges and wires with a paint brush
  • Paint the underside of the mat about once ever two years.

2-string mats are an investment, but with the proper care they can last up to a huge 20 years.

Kat

Why Have an In-Ground Trampoline

I’m a massive fan of in-ground trampolines – they’re heaps of fun and a great option for kids.

There are endless possibilities for running and jumping, with the added benefit of not being able to fall off!

When looking at installing an inground trampoline, there are two main things you’ll need to consider:

  1. The trampoline itself – here at Topline, we stock both an Olympic Standard and a Pro Jumbo sized trampoline, both made right here in Australia at our Gold Coast based factory.
  2. The trampoline pit – you’ll need to talk to a local builder or landscape gardener to build your own pit and very sturdy retaining wall.  You can find the specifications for the pit on the individual trampoline pages, or feel free to contact us if you require more information.

Quick Tips For Spring Maintenance

springs-aussie-madeIt’s not all about the trampoline mat – your springs also need to be looked after properly to get the most life out of your trampoline.

A few tips for looking after your trampoline springs:

  • Apply rust inhibitor occasionally.
  • If some springs become overstretched on a rectangular trampoline, swap them with a spring with a less active area of the trampoline, such as near the corners
  • When springs become more than slightly overstretched, replace them with new springs.
  • If your springs are constantly becoming overstretched, you may be exceeding the weight limit for your trampoline.

Happy bouncing!
