We get a lot of questions about the yellow 2 string trampoline mats and their advantages, so we have put together a quick overview for you.
Our yellow 2 string trampoline mats are made with terylene string which is woven on a loom and then painted for UV protection and wear and tear. This type of mat is a lot less air-resistant than the standard black polymesh mat, therefore gives a more responsive and faster bounce. This fast bounce is needed in competitions whereby each competitor needs to get to their height very quickly. 2 string trampoline mats have been used in clubs, gymnasiums and trampoline competitions since trampolines were invented. It is the ultimate mat – the preferred choice by athletes or advanced users.
It is also very important to have a quality frame and springs. Our trampolines here at Topline are all Australian, engineered with decades of history – it will give the bounce, the lift, along with a frame engineered to take the downforce required.
Care and Maintenance of our 2 String Trampoline Mats
Each mat can last up to 20 to 30 years if cared for with proper maintenance, otherwise the lifespan can be reduced to approximately 4 years.
The woven strings can be very easily damaged by sharp objects including shoes, fallen branches and pet claws. It is also important to ensure the steel springs are always evenly tensioned on the trampoline. Not properly caring for the string mat will create holes and these replacement mats are very expensive and almost impossible to fix if too many woven strings are broken.
Protection from UV and usage? Our current rubber-based painted mats need re-painting every 3 years especially if in full sun or used excessively. An un-painted mat will only last about 6 years, so be sure to repaint all of the string, even the bits around the mat-wires!
